How to Determine if Hitch Receiver Will Work on Cargo-Lite Trailer

Question:

Rear Receiver Hitch for Tear Type Trailer. My manufacturer offers a rear receiver for my Cargo-lite trailer. They micro-lite trailer mfg is in Elkhart IN. I have no desire to drive to Elkhart for installation. I want to also add an aluminum hitch haul type basket to carry light weight items, ie….outdoor rugs or an aluminum table. Any suggestions? You installed a hitch to my 2017 Ford Transit Connect about 4 years ago and it has been great!

Glad the hitch for your Transit is working out, and we do have some options that are likely to work, though not a hitch specifically for a Cargo-Lite trailer. That said, all you need to do is take some quick measurements, just from middle to middle of the frame to determine a fit. From what I could find of your trailer, it is overall 82 inches wide, so the frame will be less than that, giving you a few likely options:

- 18" to 51" Wide Frame: Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # C13702 or for 2" drop # C13701

- 22" to 66" Wide Frame: Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # C13704

- 22" to 72" Wide Frame: Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # 13703

Then this will allow you to use a light cargo carrier, and you'll need one with a fixed shank to go on the back of your trailer, and we do have an aluminum one like you were wanting that will work, the Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Aluminum # C18100

To secure the carrier to your hitch you'll also need the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880.
