Do you have a wiring diagram how I can connect this to my 2001 mercury mountaineer? I just need to know where I can tap in to the ignition source..

Helpful Expert Reply:
The simplest method to gain access to an ignition-controlled power circuit in your 2001 Mercury Mountaineer is to install a fuse tap kit, such as Firestone part # F2526, in the power distribution box within the engine compartment. This will avoid the need to splice into your Mountaineer wiring.
I have linked a video (for a different product) that includes the fuse tap installation process; please review the video starting from the 3:30 point. Some vehicles, such as the vehicle shown in the video, provide an auxiliary ignition-controlled accessory circuit, but you can use the circuit for any ignition-controlled device on the vehicle, such as that for the radio or power antenna. The ignition-controlled 12V power wire will connect to the center terminal on the solenoid.
