Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For A Lamar 10' Dump Trailer Towed With A 2013 Lexus LX 570
Question:
Hello, I am interested in your recommendation on weight distribution / sway control systems for my SUV. 2013 Lexus LX570 Max tow rating is 7000, and the trailer is 3500 so I am estimating the tongue weight is 400 pounds. Max Gross weight of trailer is 7000 pounds. I have towed this trailer with a pickup truck without issue, but I am concerned with the shorter wheel base of the new vehicle. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Since the max trailer weight is 7,000lbs you'll want to base your tongue weight off of that instead of the unloaded weight. So your tongue weight is going to be 10-15% of 7,000. For this I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 8,000lbs GTW, 800lbs TW # FA92-00-0800.
This affordable weight distribution hitch is great if you have a trailer with 400lbs - 800lbs of tongue weight that experiences sway from time to time. The integrated 2-Point Sway Control limits side-to-side movement and steel-on-steel friction helps to minimize sway caused by winds or sudden maneuvers.
The no-drill, clamp-on brackets can be adjusted along the trailer frame to accommodate frame-mounted items such as gas tanks, battery boxes, toolboxes, or generators. The hitch ball sold separately and requires 1-1/4" diameter shank. You can use the 2" Hitch Ball for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems - 8,000lbs # EQ91-00-6080 for a 2" hitch ball.
