Can Tire Chains Be Used on All 4 Wheels of 2019 Toyota Highlander

Question:

I drive a 2019 Toyota Highlander, and we plan to do some travel in the Adirondaks this winter. Im looking at the Titan Diamond pattern square link allow chains TC2517. Everything looks good, and I understand the installation, and reviews are good. My question is whether you think I need one pair or two and if I can get by with one pair, do you advise putting them as needed on the front or the rear of the car? Its an All Wheel Drive. thanks, Jonathan

Helpful Expert Reply:

Your 2019 Highlander was equipped with either 245/55-19 or 245/60-18 tires. If you have the 245/60-18 tire size, the Titan # TC2517 would fit, but you'll want to use Class S chains like # TC2317 to provide the proper clearance between the inside of the tire and suspension/steering/braking components.

If you have the 245/55-19 size, you'd use # TC2324 which is also class S compatible for maximum clearance.

The owner's manual recommends using chains on the front wheels only.
