Yes, you will have to complete some minor trimming when installing the Curt Hitch # C99FR on your 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows the dimensions of the trimming you need to do (the shaded areas).
The great thing about the Curt hitch is that it installs close to the rear bumper. The distance from the center of the hitch's pinhole to the outside face of your bumper is only 1-1/2 inches. This makes the Curt hitch a great choice if you want to use a hitch-mounted cargo carrier like the 20x59 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Folding # C18151. If you need a hitch lock/hitch pin with your setup, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # e98880.
