Can Tire Chains Be Used on 2018 Subaru Outback

Question:

Hello, I have a 2018 Subaru Outback 2.5i with tires sized 225/65R17. I was looking to get some class S chains for a snow covered road up to my family’s cabin incase there’s a lot of snow. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on chains and if you’ve had any experience if a tire that big would rub with chains on them. Thank you!

According to the owner's manual for your 2018 Subaru Outback, tire chains shouldn't be used because of limited clearance to the inside of the wheels, however using Class S cable chains like # PW1042 on the front wheels only would be acceptable.

I'd also recommend using rubber adjusters like part # PW105 to ensure that the cables stay tight to the tires.

I've linked to an install video that you might find helpful.
