Question:
My 2014 Jeep Cherokee user manual states... Four Wheel Drive 4WD Non-Trailhawk Models with a Two-Speed Power Takeoff Unit • The use of 7mm snow chains is permitted with 225/ 65R17.... My 2 questions: Does this mean that I am looking for chains that state Requires 7 mm of clearanceinch or less? Do these specific chains require 7mm of clearance or less?

Expert Reply:
You will have to get tire chains with links that are 7mm or smaller for your 2014 Jeep Cherokee 4WD with Two-Speed Power Takeoff. This means your vehicle will only be compatible with Class S tire chains. These tire chains are designed for vehicle's that have tight tolerances in their wheel wells. The Pewag Snox Pro Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair, part # PWSXV580, will fit your 225/65R17 tires. Their links are 3.2mm thick.
I have included a video review link and a picture that shows Class S tolerances below.
