What Does a Trailer Tire Load Range Indicate

Question:

what is load range?

Tires have various load ranges for a given size. The load range is the amount of weight that size can handle. Trailer tires of one size could have B,C, and D load range options. B is going to have the lowest capacity while D would have the highest. For trailer tire and wheel combo # AM30660 the tire is a Load Range C. It is rated for 990 pounds at 90 psi.

Going to a higher capacity tire will not increase the capacity of the trailer at all. Ideally you would get tires with the capacity to match or exceed the capacity of the trailer. So for example if your trailer was rated for 1,500 pounds, 2 of tire # AM30660 would provide a total of 1,980 pounds so they would be fine for a 1,500 pound capacity trailer.
