Recommended Hitch for Turtle Top Van Terra Built on 2000 E350
Question:
Hi Guys, I am looking for a hitch class 4 or 5 for my Turtle Top Van Terra 2001 on a 2000 E350 superduty chassis. My question is about the measurement from the frame mounting distance below the frame to the receiver to clear the rear bumper, since it has a modified body. Do you happen to know which hitch I need? Manufacture doesnt matter to me, just as long as it has square tubing. I am planning on mounting a Large capacity motorcycle carrier, and welding on 2 outboard rear facing 2inch receivers on each end for added strength. Or suggestions that may help.

For what you are describing, I think the best option is to use the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Cross Tube, # 41990; this is a 2" receiver Class V hitch. this is to be welded in to place using either the 16" Weld-On Bracket Kit for Draw-Tite Class V Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch, # 4916 or, the 7" version, # 4907. This will provide you with a Class V hitch and multiple placement options best fit your needs.
If I follow correctly your last statement of the two out board receivers, we have the Buyers Products Black Receiver Tube 2" I.D. x 6" Long Welded To 1/2" Mounting Plate, # 3371804055.

Hi Michael, Thank you for the reply. One more question. I have been told (by a ford fan freind) that this 2001 E350 Superduty has a Chromoly frame, that would loose its temper if welded. Is he correct or misinformed? Thanks for the response. Cheers
