Recommended 7-Way Connector for Trailer and Wire for 12V Trickle Charge
Question:
Hello, my truck has the 7 pin plug on the back with the center wire powered for reverse lights on the trailer. However my trailer doesnt have the center pin in it for said reverse lights. I was wondering if you had a 7 pin plug/harness I could replace the existing one to power reverse lights on the trailer as well as the 12V hot wire to trickle charge the battery for my winch while towing. My truck is a 2014 Ram 2500. Thanks.

Since I am not entirely sure what you have on your trailer, I will give you a few different options for a 7-way trailer end connector. If you only need the plug, I recommend the Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector - Trailer End # PK12706. For a plug that is pre-wired with extra cable, check out the 7-Way Molded Connector w/ 15' Cable - Trailer End # 50-67-103.
If you need to run wire for the reverse light, you can use the 14 Gauge Primary Wire - Yellow # DW02412-1. We sell this wire by the foot.
For wire to run 12V power I recommend using 10 gauge wire. We have two color options for 10 gauge wire, red # DW02508-1 or blue # 10-1-1. Typically this would be black so you would want to make sure you mark this wire to avoid any confusion.
I have attached several review videos of the above mentioned products you can check out. I also included a link to all of our 7-way trailer connectors and a helpful article on 7-way wiring for your reference.
