When it comes to choosing a weight distribution hitch the most important factor is tongue weight. That is the loaded tongue weight of your trailer, along with the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle on your tow vehicle. The tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the trailer weight, so for now we will assume 1,000-1500 lbs assuming you're at 10,000 lbs. You will need to find your actual tongue weight to be sure since this is just the capacity of your trailer.
For the best sway control, I recommend an Equal-i-zer weight distribution system with 4-point sway control. Ideally you want your tongue weight to fall into the middle of the tongue weight range of your system, so I will give you two possible options.
The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37121ET has a tongue weight range of 800-1,200 lbs. This does not come with a shank since you are looking for one that fits a 2-1/2" hitch so you will also need the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank - 2-1/2" Hitch - 7" Rise, 3" Drop # EQ90-02-4700. This would be the best option if you found that your tongue weight was right around 1,000 lbs.
If your tongue weight is closer to 1,500 lbs, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ64FR which has a tongue weight range of 1,200-1,600 lbs. This system already comes with a shank for a 2-1/2" receiver so you would not need to buy it separately.
I have attached a review video for the Equal-i-zer system you can check out. In addition to the video, I included a link for all of our shanks that will fit a 2-1/2" hitch should you want a different rise/drop. I also included some helpful articles on weight distribution and sway control, as well as an article on how to determine tongue weight for your reference.
