Disc Brake Setup for 2009 Easyloader Boat Trailer

Question:

I have a single axle 2009 Easyloader boat trailer model 17-20 3100. Does it have drum or disc brakes? If drum I would like to switch to disc with stainless calipers and oil bath bearings. What specific equipment would you recommend , including the actuator? Thank you!

I am not sure what type of brakes your 2009 Easyloader boat trailer model 17-20 3100 currently has. Based off of the information you have provided me I would be happy to make a recommendation of a disc brake set up for your boat trailer. You're going to need a different surge brake actuator for disc brakes. I recommend the Dexter DX7.5 Drop-N-Go Brake Actuator item # 099-175-20. This actuator has a connector for a 2" Ball, is zinc plated for corrosion protection and is rated up to 7,500 lbs. The Dexter actuator comes with an electric lockout and breakaway kit.

If you need new brake lines you will need the Kodiak Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Single Axle - 18' item # 18SI-BLKIT. This brake line kit lets you run brake fluid from your surge brake actuator to your trailer brakes. Includes 18', 7', and 1-1/2' flexible hoses with swivel fittings; a tee fitting; and hardware. I also recommend the Titan Hydraulic Brake Line with Fittings - 18-25/32" Long item # T0776500. This will give you a longer flexible brake line that you don't have to worry about being broken off.

The Kodiak Disc Brake Kit - 10" Hub/Rotor item # K2HR35D you were looking at will work for your trailer if you have a 3,500 lbs axle, bearing sizes inner bearing item # L68149 outer bearing item # L44649 and wheels with a 5 on 4 1/2 lug nut pattern.
