Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller in 2019 Subaru Ascent with Curt 4-Way
Question:
I am trying to clarify the brake controller connection with this product. I currently have the curt 4 way installed on my asscent. I am needing to upgrade to a 7 way now. With this product does it tie into the vehicles wire harness for the brake controller connection under the dash, that may be there. If vehicle has trailer wiring installed. Or do I still need to run the wires from the back to the front for the brake controller? I know there is a 4 way flat to 7 way, however I assume I would need to run 2 wires up to the brake controller.

Since your 2019 Subaru Ascent has a Curt 4-way # C56040 installed that would indicate that you do not have the factory tow package which means you do not have brake controller wiring under your dash. So to convert to a 7-way and install a brake controller you'd need the # ETBC7 which is a 4-way to 7-way adapter that also comes with all wiring needed for brake controller installs.
Then for a brake controller the Brake EVN # TK63VR is a really great option that's proportional and very reliable.
