Having a 4-Way Connector, like part # 118467, on your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon is the first step into utilizing a brake controller.
To complete your wiring so that you can use the Curt Echo # C51180 brake controller you just need to install the 7-Way Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L which plugs right into the 4-Way and then pulls power directly from your vehicle battery via the lead wire that comes with the kit. The only other thing I recommend picking up is the No-Drill Bracket # 18140 so that the wiring connector can be mounted next to your hitch receiver.
