Which Is Better, Ball Mount Or Receiver Tube Style Tow Bar

Question:

Which is a better flat towing system. ball hitch or direct to the receiver?

Helpful Expert Reply:

I recommend using a direct receiver type of tow bar over a ball mount tow bar when flat towing. You can experiene a lot of rattling with a ball mount style tow bar # RM-501 and would have to have the ball mount tow bar exactly level. With a receiver hitch style tow bar you'll have three inches of give either higher or lower from level, as you can see in the attached picture. With the receiver style tow bars, like the # RM-522 I recommended before for your 2002 Saturn, you can install the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 2" Trailer Hitches # RM-061 for a quiet ride. Another perk of the receiver-style tow bars is that they can be stored on the motorhome unlike the ball mount style.
