How To Choose the Correct Length Bar for the Cam-Action Lockable Door Latch
Question:
I want to install side door bar lock on my trailer. There was not any bar lock on previously. My question is, how do I decide which size bar lock to use? I see 36, 45 and 55inch if they would all technically fit? Thanks!

In regards to Cam-Action Lockable Door Latches like part # 305736, the longer bar you have for the cam lock, the more support it will offer. If you have a heavy, tall door then you'd want to consider looking into a longer bar whereas if you have a smaller, lighter door then you can use a shorter bar. That said, I don't have any formula to use for this, it's up to the installer's discretion. If you need one longer than 36" then you can get part # PLR3057 and choose your own bar size.
