Alarms and Locks to Prevent Theft From Enclosed Cargo Trailer
Question:
Hello. Last night somebody tried to break into my cargo trailer via the back barn door. I have a puck lock securing the two doors and what they did was probably with a large bolt cutter they cut away the flat bar handle which then allowed them to turn the large circular vertical shaft which then opens the doors. Thank god for my alarm system nothing was taken. I would like to know if there is a locking mechanism to secure the flat bar handle. this was quite a genius way to try to get in. I guess they have done this before. Please advise.

I am glad you were able to avoid a loss from your cargo trailer by using an alarm system.
It sounds like you have (had) a cam style door lock like # 3057-55 and # 305736 on your cargo trailer's rear door. These can be locked with items such as Global Link Vise Lock # 295-000024.
If a determined thief has the time and the tools, pretty much any lock can be defeated, but alarms along with multiple locks can make your trailer a less appealing target than another, and sometimes that is the best you can do. Unfortunately a large bolt cutter can make short work of many locks and theft-preventive items.
You might try using multiple door locks, or perhaps a trail camera!

I have a cargo trailer full of tools. 1 side door and barn doors in the back. All doors have bar lock system. What is the best way to lock them and also interested in some kind of alarm or anti theft system. Thanks
