Why Can't Weight Distribution System be Used with Draw-Tite Hitch on 2015 Subaru Outback
Question:
Hello, I am looking to purchase this hitch for our 2015 Subaru Outback. We plan on using this vehicle to tow a travel trailer weighing between 2,200 - 3,200 lbs. I noticed that this hitch was not rated for a weight distribution system. I was curious as to why and if you would be able to recommend a similar model that was. We ultimately like this design because the majority of the hitch is hidden with-in the bumper. Thanks for the response!

The reason the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76227 is not rated for use with weight distribution systems is likely the design of your 2015 Subaru Outback. Weight distribution applies different forces to your hitch with the spring bars which may be too much for some vehicles or hitches to handle, and could potentially cause damage and unsafe conditions. This would explain why there are no hitches available for your vehicle that are rated for weight distribution.
I would also recommend checking your owner's manual for your towing capacity. It looks like for the 2015 Outback it is either 2,700 lbs or 3,000 lbs depending on what engine/packages you have. I only mention this since you said your travel trailer may weigh up to 3,200 lbs.
