Recommended ST205/75r14 Tires for Rockwood High Wall Camper with 3766-lbs GVWR
Question:
I have a Rockwood high wall camper with a dry weight of 2876 and a GVWR of 3766. We currently have new load range C tires on there now ST205/75R14 and they bow out so much during travel. I know we arent overloading it, as we travel with empty water tanks and very little gear inside.bed linens, two full propane tanks and various maintenance/repair tools Would upgrading to a D range give us a stronger tire? We arent looking to travel with more weight, we just dont want another blowout, and the visible bowing that we currently see doesnt inspire confidence. Any advice? Thank you :

Yes, upgrading to a Load Range D tire like the Karrier ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM10235 will certainly give you some added peace of mind and these tires have a 2200-lbs per tire capacity (4400-lbs total), so they're well rated for your 3766-lbs GVWR trailer. I will say that the ST205/75r14 Load Range C # AM10234 have a 1,925-lbs capacity, so they're still rated well for your trailer, but you're not hurting anything by adding a bit beefier tire.
With that said, there might be something else that's causing your wear issues since you mention "bowing". Typically trailer axles will have a slight bow in them since when loaded up, they will flatten out and get the tire to sit flat. However, if the axle might be damaged and isn't allowing the tires to sit flat, this might be causing your issues with tire wear. It's also possible that maybe one of the spindles has been damaged and it causing the tires to wear unevenly.
