Solution For Carrying Two Kayaks In An Enclosed Trailer

Question:

Question: I am looking for a kayak rack for my enclosed cargo trailer. I have 2-12.5ft Hobie Compass kayaks. I need something that will attach to the interior walls. If you have something that folds back or is easily removable that could be a plus. I will secure and lock them to the racks to prevent them from falling off while traveling. Hope you can help me PLEASE with any thoughts and suggestions. Thanks

The best way to secure your two kayaks to the interior wall of your enclosed trailer is by using J-style wall mounts like the Malone J-Dock Storage System 2 Boats # MPG317. This uses J-hooks that get bolted into the wall of your trailer and allow a kayak to be mounted onto it, then the included harness hangs down to allow for a second kayak to be mounted.

Another solution is to install a roof rack on top of your trailer, this way you will not be taking a lot of room inside the trailer. The Rack'em Fitz-All Enclosed Trailer Ladder Rack # RA-28 would work well; this installs onto the trailer's rain gutters and provides two crossbars for your kayaks to be mounted to. Then you can use two of the Malone Deluxe Kayak Carrier # MPG152. This is a universal foam block kayak carrier which includes tie-down straps; you will need two of these foam block carriers since you have two kayaks. I attached a few demonstration videos for you to check out.
