Flat Towing Equipment Needed For A 2020 Jeep Wrangler With Standard Factory Bumper

Question:

I ordered the following: Base Plate - DM9519336 Wanted- e98948 which is not in stock Tow Bar - e34ZR Tow Bar Wiring - C63CR Supplemental Braking - SM99251 Wanted - RM-8700 I see you added Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit RM-751490 Is that just to check the initial install? I would think once it's installed correctly nothing would change. There's a reason I asked the experts. So, If I order this would it be possible to piggyback it with my existing order which is being delivered on Monday, the 13th? Please let me know if I should call in to order it. Order #112091256 Thanks again for your help,

To flat tow your 2020 Jeep Wrangler you'll need a tow bar, base plate, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables.

The etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e34ZR is a great choice for your tow bar. It has non-binding latches that make unhooking on any terrain easy and telescoping arms that make hooking up on any terrain easy. This tow bar also comes with safety cables so you won't need to purchase any separately.

The etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98948 is a fit for a standard factory bumper. I am unable to look up what bumper is on your Jeep via the VIN so if you find that it isn't a factory bumper just reply back with the brand/model bumper you do have and I can find the correct base plate. The removable arms on this base plate will provide a clean look when not in use.

The Curt Universal Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # C63CR is compatible with your 2020 Jeep Wrangler and will connect your Jeep's lighting system to your RV to activate the signal lights required for towing. This kit will splice into your vehicle's wiring for a one time install.

The Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 offers automatic, real-time braking in your towed Jeep Wrangler. With this braking system you'll have no false braking since it only activates only when your RV brake lights are illuminated. This system will connect directly to your Jeep's battery and includes a trickle charge line to counteract the drain it creates on the battery.

To know when the brakes are being activated in your Jeep you can install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit
Item # RM-751490. This kit will activate the monitoring system to show you when the brakes are applied which is very important because if your supplemental braking system is improperly installed, it may be continuously pressing on the pedal, impeding it from fully retracting and possibly causing damage to your vehicle's tires and braking system.

Since the # e34ZR already has built in safety cables you do not need to purchase extra cables.

Depending on the height difference between your base plate and RV receiver hitch you may need a high/low adapter. This will require you to measure the height of your base plate and height of the RV receiver hitch and the difference between the two will need to be within 3" for safe towing. I've linked our help guide article to help you with this process.

The Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751490 is for more than just the initial install. If for some reason there was a malfunction with the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 and the brakes were not being applied when they are supposed to then you would be able to use this indicator to know that the brakes are not being applied. Say something falls in your vehicle and is sitting on the breaks you would be able to see that they are being applied when you're not sending the signal to brake. The # RM-751490 is a safeguard for your vehicle and RV to alert you in the event that your braking system isn't properly functioning.
