Can the Thule Van Lock # TH309832 be Locked without the Key?
Question:
I am also interested in mounting this on a school bus. From the video it appears that it can be locked without a key. Is this correct? In other words, it would be possible for someone to lock me inside of the bus by just pushing in on the cylinder of the lock?

Yes, the Thule Van Lock # TH309832 can be locked by pushing down on the lock cylinder without the key. With that mechanism, it is possible for someone to lock you into the bus by sliding the mechanism shut and engaging the cylinder.
A great alternative is to use the Cam-Action Lockable Door Latch Kit w/ Wide Hasp # PLR158 along with the Master Lock Laminated Steel Padlock - 1-3/4" Wide # ML1KA. With this system, no one will be able to lock you into the bus without having the padlock.
