No Power To 12V Auxiliary Power On Factory 7 Way Connector 2018 Ram 1500/2500/3500

Question:

I have a 2018 Dodge Ram with factory 5th wheel tow package. This means that Chrysler installed a 7 way trailer connector inside the bed of the truck so that you dont have to plug your 5th wheel into the traditional bumper 7 way. For some reason the +12v output or Tow Powerinch has stopped working. 0v on a volt meter. I think it may be a blown fuse. However, the same output on the alternate 7 way out on the bumper of the truck does work OK. Just to be clear, this truck comes from the factory with 2x 7 way connectors installed. One on the bumper and a 2nd inside the bed. Does Dodge use a separate fuse somewhere anytime RAM installs the optional factory 5th wheel tow package 7 way inside the bed? If so, where?

Expert Reply:

If you are receiving no power at the receptacle but you are receiving power at the bumper 7 way connection then it is unlikely it is a blown fuse. More than likely it is a damaged wire or a bad connector, to determine this start by tracing the black wire associated with the vehicles 7 way 12V auxiliary wire inspecting as you go for breaks or frays in the wire. If your problem still is not resolved after that, you can run a new line using # 10-1-1 from your 7 way connector to your vehicles battery. To prevent over draw and your vehicles battery, use a circuit breaker like # PK54530 and place it 6" from your positive battery terminal.

Additionally, if your wire is fine then your connector is bad, # 20110 would replace the bad connector in the bed of your truck.
