Should I Install a 1-1/4 Or 2 Receiver For a Cargo Carrier On My 2014 VW Jetta SportWagen
Question:
car: 2014 volkswagen jetta sportwagen turbo diesel question: install a 1 1/4inch or a 2inch hitch use: most likely for cargo carrier use only I assume Im limited by the tongue weight rating on my Jetta, which means no more than 200 lbs. If so, does it really matter what size hitch I get? I was told the 2inch would be stronger and hold up to stress better over the long-term. Ill also be purchasing a cargo carrier. What is the largest size open carrier you would recommend for my sportwagen? My main concerns are safety and stability. Every so grateful

I recommend to have a 2" receiver whenever possible. The 2" receiver offers a larger selection of hitch mounted accessories and ball mounts.
The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7284 will give you a 2" receiver on your 2014 Volkswagen Jetta. This will open you up to several different cargo carries like our 60x24 etrailer Cargo Carrier # e98874. This is one of the larger carries with inside dimensions of 60" long x 4" wide x 5-1/2" deep. But it only weighs in at 48lbs allowing for more cargo.
