What are the Two Smaller Holes for on the Roadmaster Base Plate Kit # 1528-3
Question:
There are 2 holes on each of the removable arm plates where they meet the base plate main receiver. There is a large hole on the inboard side of each removable arm and there is a small hole on the outboard side of each removable arm. There is also a small hole on the outboard side of each base plate main receiver that aligns with those small holes on the outboard side of each of the removable arms. The instructional videos and the installations instructions PDF show the large inboard holes being used for the quick links for the short safety cables included with the base plate kit. The videos and instructions PDF for the Roadmaster Stowmaster 5000 show the short safety cables attaching to the outboard holes of the Stowmaster quick disconnect plates. I understand all this. Here is the question. Nowhere does it show what the small outboard holes of each of the base plate main receivers and each of the removable arms are used for. What are the smaller outboard holes for??? I’ll try to attach a photo.

The smaller holes on the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 1528-3 are there to padlock the arms to prevent theft.
If you need a padlock, I recommend the Master Lock Covered Solid Body Padlocks - 1/4" Shackle Diameter (2 Pack) # 141T. I recommend this lock set because it has the vinyl covering that will protect it under your vehicle.
