Hollywood Racks RV Bike Rack Compatibility With Dual Hitch Receiver While Flat Towing

Question:

Any issues with using this bike rack with a 2inch Dual hitch receiver? I would like to place my bikes on the RV and then still be able to tow my vehicle.

The Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY64FR is rated for for motorhome towing and flat towing so you could place it in your dual hitch receiver or on the back of your vehicle if it has a 2" receiver.

Hi Kevin, so mounting the Hollywood Rv rider is acceptable on the top of a dual receiver? Thanks for you time.

@JeffT Yes, it's very common when flat towing to use a dual hitch receiver to haul a bike rack # HLY64FR as well as mount a tow bar for pulling a second vehicle. The dual receiver could have some stipulations when it comes to use or capacity so you will want to verify that you are staying within its guidelines. Some adapters will say that the overall tongue weight capacity of the hitch can be reduced by 33% or 50% so this could overload your hitch if you aren't careful. The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-6, for example, doesn't have a weight restriction but lists that you might have a hard time installing a bike rack if the shank has sharp corners instead of rounded ones. Every case can be a bit different so just let me know what adapter you'd like to use and I'd be happy to doublecheck for you.

@KevinC Hi Kevin. I have a Toptow dual receiver. Goal is to use top receiver for our Hollywood RV bike rack and two E bikes Bikes are 60lbs a piece plus bike rack. Just looking for the height. Not planning on using the bottom one. Do you see any issues with the weight on the top receiver? Thanks,Jeff

@Jeff You'll most likely be fine but should confirm with TopTow that your specific hitch adapter is going to be rated high enough for this amount of tongue weight.
