Demco Hijacker Autoslide is Clunking

Question:

I have a 2017 2500 hd chevy demco model 6077 when I start or stop at a signal light or stop sign I get a loud clunk. I am not turning just straight ahead. It seems. The hitch slides more than it should.

Thank you for your purchase from etrailer of the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # DM8550034. When it comes to the clunking you are hearing, the most likely issue is the capture plates needing to be adjusted, as these do need to be carefully adjusted to the width of your trailer's pin box for the hitch to function as intended, including the slide mechanism you said felt was sliding more than it should.

So what you should do is measure the pin box width, and ensure you have adjusted the plates evenly on both sides to 1/8” over the total width of the pin box.
