Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For 2021 Ram 1500 Towing 29' TT W/ 7500lb GVWR and 975lbs TW
Question:
Good morning, I am considering a new hitch setup for my 2021 Ram 1500 crew cab 5.7 hemi with etorque, 3:92 gears and tow package, without air ride. I pull a 29 foot travel trailer gross weight of 7500 lbs. I am calculating the tongue weight at 13 of gross trailer weight. estimated tongue weight of 975 lbs with this calculation and I may be well under but would rather be over calculated than under calculated. I am debating bewtween this hitch or the curt TruTrack c17501. I would like to know your recommendation as I have purchased a few things through you before and havent been steered wrong yet. The current setup is the Curt C17062 that I used on my Ram 2500 but isnt as stable as I would like going to the half ton. I see a lot of recommendation on the equalizer and really do not want that brand. I purchased one from them and the head was welded crooked that I didnt realize until after I installed it. When I called them it was a big mess and basically was told I abused it and bent it. pretty hard to bend a hitch head without being in an accident I just through the hitch in the trash and I am now moving on to a different brand and a place with customer service I can count on.

Since your tow vehicle is a 2021 Ram 1500 Crew Cab with the 5.7L Hemi I recommend going with an even stiffer weight distribution hitch than the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 7-Hole Shank - 13K GTW, 1.3K TW # BLU27FR you were looking at.
The reason for this is the rear coil springs Ram used in the new 1500s are very soft and cause a lot of sag when towing, and we have run into issues where customers still had too much sag which cause a lot of side to side and fore and aft trailer movement while on the road.
Instead I recommend going with the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - Clamp On - 15,000 lbs GTW, 1,500 lbs TW # BXW1500 which works with tongues weights up to 1500lbs, and will do a great job of giving you a comfortable towing experience when towing your 29' Travel Trailer with a GVWR of 7500lbs and roughly 975lbs of tongue weight. Now this hitch does not include a hitch ball so you will need either 2" hitch ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" hitch ball # 19286 to match the coupler on your trailer.
I included a video of the # BXW1500 for you to take a look at.
