Redarc Tow-Pro RED44FR Install on 2007 New Body GMC Sierra
Question:
A mechanic said contact you about installation of the subject product. I have a 2007 GMC Sierra SLT crew cab. I have a 7 point connector on the back bumper. The two connection studs hot wire by the fuse box under the hood do not have any wires connected. I see on You Tube that there should be brake controller wires under the dash, but if they are there I cant find them. The mechanic also said to ask you if you are having any returns, etc. about the subject controller. Do I need any parts other than the controller to get the controller connected? If yes, what parts. Thanks.

If you click the provided link, you can see our brake controller install help article that will walk you right through the process, showing where the wires under the hood are located and there they connect. You'll need an M6 x 1.0 and an M8 x 1.25 nut to install them, which we offer as parts # 185916 and # 185917, respectively.
The tow package harness is located under the dash, between the steering column and the top of the e-brake pedal, the harness will have a white tag on it, which makes it easier to locate. I've linked a photo showing this.
As for the brake controller itself, the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR is a great piece of equipment, but might I make a suggestion? The Elite provides a proportional and a user controlled mode. The user controlled mode allows the controller to operate as a time-delayed controller which is good for low-speed off road use. If you aren't planning on towing a trailer off-road, then you'll be better off with the Tow-Pro Liberty, part # RED24FR which is quite a bit less expensive. The Liberty is a remote mount controller just like the Elite, but it doesn't offer the user controlled feature that most folks won't use. You'll also need a # RED69FR pigtail to install the controller to the tow package harness. Redarc brake controllers have been very well received by our customers who rate them highly.
The wire connections are as follows:
• Tow Package Red/Black Wire Connects to Black Pigtail Wire
• Tow Package White Wire Connects to While Pigtail Wire
• Tow Package Light Blue/White Striped Wire Connects to Red Pigtail Wire
• Tow Package Dark Blue Wire Connects to Blue Pigtail Wire
