Recommended Hitch Extender To Tow 6000lb Boat W/ 2021 Ram 3500 With Truck Bed Camper

Question:

I have a ram 3500 long box with factory hitch that I am putting a 2800 lb 10 ft camper on and want to tow a 26 ft 6000 lb boat and trailer. It will probably need a 24 in hitch extension for boat. What system will I need to tow boat with?

We have just what you are looking for.

Since your 2021 Ram 3500 Long Bed has a factory 2-1/2" trailer hitch receiver I recommend the Hitch Box Extension and Reducer for Titan 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches, 24" - 34" Long # RP45292.

When used in the 24" extension length like you are needing it has a 6000lb trailer weight rating, and 600lb tongue weight rating which will be perfect for you as long as your boat does not exceed these ratings.

If it is slightly over 6000lbs or 600lbs tongue weight then you will need to use a weight distribution hitch which will bump these ratings to 8000lbs trailer weight and 800lbs tongue weight.

Since boat trailers typically have a pole tongue you will need more than likely need a pole tongue adapter.

I recommend going with the Equal-i-zer adapter # EQ95-01-5950 with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Round - 8,000 lbs GTW, 800 lbs TW # FA94-00-0800. I like the Fastway e2 hitches due to their quality for the price, and due to the two point sway control that keeps the trailer going straight down the highway. This hitch does not include a hitch ball so you will need either 2" hitch ball # A-90 or 2-5/16" hitch ball # 19286 to match the coupler on your trailer.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
