Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for a 13,200 Pound Toy Hauler

Question:

Hi. I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 2.5inch receiver. I ordered an ATC Toy Hauler 28, 13200 lbs GVWR, 1250 lbs estimated tongue weight, 8inch frame height, 2 5/16inch coupler. Ive never towed before and want to make sure I get what I need. Theres a very active ownersfoot facebook group and for this model they all seem to recommend either Andersen, BlueOx, or Equalizer weight distribution hitches. On your website it looks like this one https://www.etrailer.com/Weight-Distribution-Hitch/Equal-i-zer/EQ64FR.html is the only one that has everything Im looking for, but 1 its way more expensive than the others in the weight rating range I need, and 2 Ive heard Equalizer hitches are noisier than other WD hitches, but I dont know if thats true, how true it is, or if I can do anything about it. I also dont know if there are other hitches I could use with extra hardware if needed? Anyway, my wife has bought smaller things from you guys in the past, like a bike rack, and had a great experience, so we really want to buy from you again. Looking forward to your advice! From the weight you listed, I think the Eqaul-i-zer # EQ64FR may be a bit over rated for your trailer. What you really want to do is shoot for as close to the middle of the systems capacity as possible.

So with that being said, I recommend going with the Curt TruTrack # C17501. This will have a minimum tongue weight of 1,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight of 1,500 pounds, putting you in a better place.

As to the noise. All weight distribution systems are going to make a "grinding" noise. This is due to arms that snap up on the brackets attached to the A-Frame of the trailer using friction, kind of like a brake pad. This is completely normal, however, and they should not be greased or anything like that.
