Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2004 Volkswagen Jetta Wagon To Haul Yuba Mundo Heavy Electric Bike

Question:

Im trying to bring my heavy electric cargo bike with me. I did a lot of research last year and ended up learning that the only rack that will carry my Yuba Mundo I think 50 pounds but may be a tad more requires a hitch and nobody would put one on a Jetta. U-Haul said its not possible I called a bunch of local places and they said the Jetta cant take a hitch. Ive been so bummed and see lots of other small cars with hitches and dont understand. This morning I was searching for a standard bike rack to go on the back to carry a different standard mountain bike and clicked on your site. Hilariously the bike rack that searched up wasnt for a wagon but rather a sedan but what did came up was the hitch you sell specifically for 2004 Jetta. I can see that it has unusual attach points and it seems completely legit that it will work. Is this common that a whole collection of experts told me its not doable and now I could just buy one online??!! Before I get too excited Im going to find the bike rack again and start to add up the weight. The rack is a tray that mounts on the Hitch and can carry this longer bike at a slight angle so its not wider than the car. Maybe the issue is that I have to use a trailer with wheels as opposed to a tray. Super appreciate your insight thank you so much.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11083 for your 2004 Volkswagen Jetta Wagon is a Class I receiver. This will limit the amount of accessories that are available and capable of working for your Jetta. Drilling is also required for the installation of this hitch.

The RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack # RKY10007 is one of our class I racks and it will max out at 60lbs of capacity. I did see that the Yuba Mundo is over 83" long and that would definitely cause concern for sticking out past the vehicle.

Our Detail K2 Mighty Multi A-Frame Utility Trailer # K2MMT5X7 would allow for you to carry the bike on a trailer. This would also allow for you to use it for several other purposes as it only weighs 451lbs.

I recommend the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT as this universal harness will not require you to splice into your taillight wiring and will put no strain on the factory wiring. This will give you a 4-way flat trailer connection for towing the trailer.
