Recommended Brake Controller for a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee With Factory Tow Package
Question:
We were told our tow package has a brake controller and our manual shows that #4 on the 7 pins is electric brakes. The manual says nothing about getting a brake controller. We are towing a camper at appropriate weight-do we need a separate brake controller - will that confuse the jeep?

From what I could find, the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee did not come with a factory brake controller. However, you do have a factory port for an aftermarket controller to plug directly in to.
The Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 paired with the plug and play harness # TK93VR will be the ones I suggest. This is a very easy controller to set up and use, and can handle trailers with up to 3 axles that have brakes. The harness will also plug directly into a port under the dash. I included a video of this as well.
With all that being said, if your trailer does not have brakes, you will not need the controller.
