Why Are Dexter Drums 8-271-7UC3-EZ and 8-257-5UC3 So Different In Price?
Question:
What is the difference that accounts for the pricing difference between the hub # 8-271-7UC3 and the hub# 8-257-5UC3?
asked by: Gary
Expert Reply:
The reason for the price difference is the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # 8-271-7UC3-EZ are only compatible with hydraulic brakes, where the # 8-257-5UC3 are compatible with electric and hydraulic brakes.
Since most people use electric trailer brakes on this size axle the # 8-257-5UC3 is the more popular choice.
For compatible braking assemblies we have the Dexter Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit # 23-398-399 if you are wanting hydraulic brakes, or Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-2 if you are wanting the more popular electric brakes.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
