Determining If Convert-A-Ball Gooseneck Adapter Will Work W/ Recessed Gooseneck Ball In Flat Bed

Question:

Good Morning I have a 2015 Chevy 3500 flatbed with a recessed gooseneck ball. its recessed about 3inch below the actual deck. the recess is a 13x13inch square opening in the flatbed deck. from the center of the ball to the end of the bed is 54inch this is why I am leaning towards the offset model. my question is since my ball is recessed below the deck and only has the 13x13inch opening will this be a problem with articulation with the offset hitch were it attaches to the gooseneck ball.

Based on the measurements you provided you should not have any issues using the # CAB-C5GX1216 on your pin box and towing it with your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 flat bed with a recessed gooseneck hitch ball.

The bottom plate of the # CAB-C5GX1216 measures 5-1/4" x 7" so it will fit your 13" x 13" opening just fine, and since the coupler is height adjustable you should be able to adjust it high enough to clear the 3" recess, but you can confirm this by measuring from the measuring from the bottom of the gooseneck hitch ball to the king pin of your 5th wheel trailer. as long as this measurement is 14" or more you shouldn't have any clearance issues.

If you have less clearance then I recommend the # AM3139 which measures 4-3/4" from the bottom of the coupler to the bottom of the offset arm so it would be high enough to clear the non recessed portion of your flatbed.

I included videos for both of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
