Baseplate Torque Specs For Item # RM-521453-4 On A 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sport S

Question:

Hi, just bought this baseplate from E-trailer and I’ve got it about 90 installed on my ‘21 Wrangler Sport S. Hasn’t been as seamless as the videos on eTrailer, but no worries I’m retired. A comment on Roadmasters torque specs. If I read the disclaimer above the Bolt Torque requirements’ section of the installation instructions correctly it basically says ‘these are general guidelines and Roadmaster is not responsible if they’re wrong’. Wow! My question is what’s the torque for the 1/2” bolts and the factory 16mm bolts holding the base plate to the frame? What does eTrailer use/recommend? Also should I use a threadlocker, and if so is Loctite Blue OK. What do your installers use. Thanks,

Expert Reply:

If the base plate Item # RM-521453-4 did not come with thread locker then we recommend using red loctite Item # LT37420. The instructions will tell you what thread locker to use. I have found the if it is not in the kit it will be red. As far as the torque specs, I am an installer and we go by the manufacturers recommendations on the instruction sheet. The specific bolts you are speaking about do not have torque specifications listed. It is advised by Roadmaster to tighten the bolts down and give them another half turn.
