Roof Rack To Carry 2 Kayaks On Top Of A 2011 Honda Accord
Question:
Hello, I am looking for a roof rack for my 2011 Honda Accord Sedan. I would like to be able to carry 2 kayaks, What products would you recommend? Are roof racks typically convertible, so if we werent carrying kayaks, we could attach a cargo carrier or bikes? My car has a sun roof, in case that matters. Thanks!

We have exactly what you need to carry 2 kayaks on the roof of your 2011 Honda Accord Sedan. The most affordable option is the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack 50" Long # SR1010. This simply clamps onto your door jams and provides a 50" long square bar for kayaks, bike racks, cargo baskets, or other roof-mounted accessories. The only downside is that the weight capacity is only 90lbs and may not be sufficient for both of your kayaks unless they are very lightweight.
Another option, although more costly, is the Inno Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 51" Long # INXB130-2 with the necessary Feet # INXS250 and Fit Kit # INK745. This system has a higher weigh capacity of 120lbs and features a T-Slot top channel for channel-mounted accessories to be easily installed. If cost isn't a concern, this is definitely a better roof rack for both kayaks or possibly bike racks or cargo racks in the future.
Now you will need to attach a couple kayak carriers onto the roof rack. I recommend looking at the Swagman Contour Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - J-Style # S65148; you will need two of these kits for both kayaks. This kayak carrier will clamp onto either roof rack mentioned above by using the including clamps and hardware. This is an economical carrier that has great reviews from many customers and I highly recommend it. It is also a very lightweight system which weighs 12lbs per kit.
Since you mentioned bike racks and cargo carriers I thought I would give you a few options. For a bike rack you could use the RockyMounts TomaHawk Roof Bike Rack # RKY1222 and for a cargo basket you could use Aluminum Roof Mounted Cargo Basket - 44" Long x 39" Wide x 7" Deep - 150 lbs # 288-09200. Both of these will clamp onto either roof rack mentioned above.
I couldn't find any information online regarding this, but you will want to check your owner's manual or check with a Honda dealer to verify the maximum weight capacity of your roof so that you do not exceed that limit. I attached a few demonstration videos for you to check out.
