Parts Needed To Install Redarc Tow-Pro Elite In 2015 Jeep Wrangler W/ Aftermarket 7-way Connector

Question:

Hi, I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. I want to install the Tow Pro Elite. I have already added a 7-way flat blade connector by simply adding a plug and play harness to my tail-light coming off of the jeep. I also have added Black power wire from the jeep battery to the 7 way as I originally was going to go with a wireless. I have 3 questions: 1. Do I need the black power wire that I ran all the way to the 7 way from the battery or can I now eliminate it as the tow pro elite black power wire will connect to the battery? 2. Being as I now have a 7 way already installed, is the red wire brake light trigger in the 7 way installation or do I need to run the red wire back to the 7 way? 3. Lastly, does the black wire 12v power coming of the Tow Pro Elite have enough length to make it to the battery? I have verified that my 7 way has operative turn signal power and brake power when signals are applied 12v tester flashes and brakes 12v tester is steady. Thanks for help

I would be happy to help!

The black power wire you ran from the 7-way connector on your 2015 Jeep Wrangler to the battery is for the 12v power pin on your 7-way connector and is not used to provide power to the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR you were looking at.

To install the # RED44FR you will need to hardwire the controller using # 5506 to provide the power and ground for the controller as the included harness is not long enough to reach the battery. The connections to be made are as follows:

Black wire of # RED44FR to black wire of # 5506 which goes to positive terminal of battery with included 30amp Circuit breaker.
White wire of # RED44FR to white wire of # 5506 which goes to negative terminal of battery
Blue wire to trailer brake output pin on 7-way connector. If you did not run this wire already you will need # 10-1-1 and heat shrink butt connectors # DW05745-5.
Red wire of # RED44FR to cold side wire of stop light switch that only has power when brake pedal is applied. Using circuit tester # PTW2993 will allow you to identify the correct wire.

I included a video of the # RED44FR being installed for you to take a look at.
