How to Wire 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector for Hydraulic Surge Coupler
Question:
I’m wondering how I need to connect my wires when using a trailer with surge breaks

The vehicle end of the Hopkins # HM47890 would install on the vehicle by tapping the green striped wire into the right turn, the yellow striped wire into the left turn and the brown striped wire into the running lamp circuit. The remaining blue striped wire would tap into the reverse lamp circuit. The white striped wire would ground to the vehicle frame.
On the trailer end, the connector would install the same way, with the extra blue stripe wire connecting to the reverse lockout solenoid on your surge coupler. The white striped wire grounds to the trailer frame.
