Can 3500 lb Trailer Axle be Converted to 5 on 5 inch Bolt Pattern
Question:
Hello I bought a 18ft car trailer a year ago and found out the wheels and brake drums are for a chevy 5 on 4.75 lug pattern with 10 inch drums. With the availability of parts if I was to break down out if state Ive considered converting it to the standard ford 5 lug bolt pattern. I can pick mounted wheels at any place with the Ford bolt pattern. My spindles are good and the right brake system currently is 023-027-00, 09087030218, what all would I need to convert this. My next question is about the equalizer bar that links the inner leaf springs together. The front leaf appears newer than the back but the equalizer shifts towards the back on both sides most of the time. Putting weight on the trailer shifts it more towards the middle but still more to the back.

Since you have 10 inch brake drums on your trailer that would indicate you have a 3,500 lb trailer axle so if you wanted a drum with a 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern you'd want the part # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K to replace what you have now.
Typically when equalizers aren't sitting level on a trailer the first thing to check is if the trailer is sitting level. If the trailer is not sitting totally level the equalizer will tilt so check that first. If that checks out the issue would normally be then an equalizer that is too long or leaf springs that are too long.
