Load Range C or D ST205/75-14 Tires for Sonic Trailer

I have st 205/75r/14 load range c would load range d be better

Expert Reply:
It will really depend on the weight of the trailer and its contents. A ST205/75-14 Load Range C tire would have a per tire capacity of 1760 lbs or a per axle capacity of 3520 lbs. A load range D tire in the same 205/75-14 size such as # 274-000012 would have a 2040 per tire/4080 lb per axle capacity.
Typically, you'd want the capacity of your tires to exceed the fully loaded weight of your trailer, but because it's pretty easy to overload a trailer (a practice we do not recommend), it's not a terrible idea to go with a heaver load range tire than you actually need.
I'll link you to our series of trailer wheel/tire articles which contain tons of information that I hope you'll find helpful.
