Height of Curt Class III Hitch Receiver, Part # C13068, When Installed on a 2007 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Hello, I see on your installation video for the Draw-Tite Class III that the distance from the top of the receiver to the floor is 12 3/4. But the Curt Class III video does not have a similar measurement. I was wondering if you knew what that height is for the Curt. I prefer the bolt pattern on the Draw-Tite, but will go for the Curt if it offers higher ground clearance. Thanks!

For the video on the Curt Class III hitch receiver for 2007 Honda Odyssey, Part # C13068, as you noted
we did not happen to include the measurement of the distance from the ground to the top of the installed receiver, as we did for the Draw-Tite # 75270.
However, since we have both parts in stock I visited the warehouse and took measurements that allow me to determine what the approximate after-installation hitch height will be for the Curt. Since both hitch receivers mount to the same frame members on the vehicle, by measuring the different distances from the mounting flanges to the tops of the receiver tubes, and using the known measurement for the Draw-Tite, we can make a determination of the receiver height on the Curt hitch, part # C13068, after installation on your Odyssey.
Based on my measurements of the two hitches, the Curt receiver, part # C13068, will sit only very slightly higher off the ground - about 3/4 inch higher.
Do note that these height measurements are subject to several variables, such as the tread depth on your tires, their inflation pressure and the cargo/passenger load in the vehicle.
Please also note that both hitch receivers require you to separately purchase a ball mount, hitch ball, pin and clip. For hitch ball I suggest Tow Ready 2-Inch # 19247; for pin and clip you can use part # PC3.
Your choice of ball mount will depend on your trailer coupler height (when level to the ground) relative to the receiver tube on your Odyssey. You can choose either a fixed ball mount that provides the required rise or drop, or an adjustable-height ball mount, a great choice if you will tow more than one trailer or tow with more than one vehicle. I have also linked an article that offers guidance on selecting a ball mount.
I will be happy to recommend any other towing items you might need, such as a trailer brake controller and vehicle wiring harness, if you wish.
