Recommended Flat Towing Setup Minus Supplemental Braking System For 2020 Ford Edge
Question:
I want to dolly tow a 2020 Ford Edge behind an RV without using a supplemental braking system. I want to hook the Ford Edge to the 7 pin receptacle on the back of the RV so I can use the Ford Edge brake and turn signal lights when towing, so I don’t need external magnetic lights. What would I need to do that?

I would be happy to recommend everything you will need to flat tow your 2020 Ford Edge behind your RV, but the only base plate kits available are if your Edge is an ST model.
First you will need a base plate kit which currently the only base plate kit offered is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2677 that will only fit if your Edge is an ST Model.
As long as your Edge is an ST model you will be able to use the RoadMaster Blackhawk 2 All Terrain, Nighthawk, or Sterling Tow Bars to Blue Ox Brackets Adapter # RM-031-5 and the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2" Hitch - 8K # RM-576 which is a great option due to its 8000lb weight rating and the non-binding arms that allow you to quickly and easily unhook your towed vehicle even on un-even ground. This tow bar includes safety cables, a 7-way to 6-way cord, and a 6-way connector for the front of you vehicle.
To complete the tow bar wiring I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 which will connect to your factory tail light wiring via the included diodes which will protect your factory wiring from damage. The 7-way to 6-way connector will plug into the 7-way connector on your RV to power the vehicle tail lights.
I recommend double checking your local laws, and the laws of the areas you plan on driving through as supplemental braking systems are required in quite a few areas, and not using one could cause a legal issue.
Lastly you will likely need a high-low adapter to level your tow bar to your RV so I have included a link to a helpful article that goes over how to measure for the correct adapter, and a link to all of our high-low adapters for you to take a look at.
It is always a good idea to check the recreational towing section of your vehicles owner's manual for any restrictions regarding flat towing, and for any special steps required to make your vehicle ready to be flat towed.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
For safety cables and tow bar wiring I recommend the
