Can I Swap My US Gear Supplemental Braking System for a Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO
Question:
After upgrading my RV I need to replace the old USGear braking system in my 2006 Jeep Wangler Rubicon. Looking at the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO system. Can you confirm this will work with the existing brake and turn light diodes from the earlier system, also if you know any other concerns upgrading from the USGear tow brake system? For ex. the existing system does have the 12V line on the tow cable charging the toad battery. Thank you!

I'm not familiar with the US Gear Braking system that you're referring to and there isn't a ton of information on the internet regarding it anymore since it's no longer made. With that said though, you won't have any problems removing it and installing the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play Duo # SM99251.
You can still use the charge line and diode wiring kit that is installed on your vehicle since those aren't going to be tied into the supplemental braking system. The Stay-IN-Play system will work well with your 2006 Jeep TJ or LJ Rubicon but you will need to add the Roadmaster Brake Lite Relay # RM-88400 to prevent the vehicle's brakes from overriding the signal from the motorhome when turning.
I don't have any concerns as to why you wouldn't be able to use this as long as your RV has a hydraulic braking system; if your RV has an air brake system then you're just want to use the Air Force One # SM99243. This system offers many of the same features like proportional braking and permanent installation, but is designed for RVs with air brakes or air over hydraulic systems.
I've linked some review and installation videos of these supplemental braking systems for you to have a look at, but overall there won't be any issues making this swap.
