Best Bike Rack for 2020 Mercedes-Benz G63 Easy to Use vs Lightweight

Question:

Hi, I own a 2020 Mercedes G63. I’m interested in your Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches and Thule Helium Platform Bike Rack. Does the Bike Rack come in a 3 or 4 bike platform rack? Thanks.

Using the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # Y02483 with your 2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 so that you can have full access to your rear doors when needed is a well-thought out strategy. Actually, the Yakima BackSwing cannot be used with the Thule Helium # TH44VR since the hitch extender only works with a solid 2" shank and the Thule Helium has an 1-1/4" shank with a 2" adapter sleeve. Keep in mind this extender is only rated for 250lbs of weight.

I have some options for you, but Thule does not offer the Helium in solid 2" shank nor 3 or 4-bike versions.

If it's the easy tray and wheel mount design that you like then the Inno Tire Hold which comes in a 4-bike version # INH142. Similar design, greater bike weight capacity, and the 4-bike version weighs 118 lbs. Same mounting process as the Saris MTR, but at almost half the price.

Now, if your priority is a light platform-style 4-bike rack, and you are willing to give up on the super easy wheel mount design, then the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # HR4000 could be an option for you. The whole rack weighs 42 lbs! It doesn't have all the fancy premium features like the other bike racks, but if you are worried about weight then this is a good choice. You will need to get your own cable and hitch lock set # HRLHPTC separately though.

All in all, if you want a premium bike rack with the easiest mounting process ever, go with the Saris MTR # SA4032-34. If your hitch has limited weight capacity, go with the Hollywood Racks Destination # HR4000. Video reviews for each bike rack are linked down below.
