Best Way to Carry Rad Power E-Bike with 2017 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Hi....Looking for a bike rack for one 60 lb Rad Power bike that fits a 2017 Toyota Highlander without a hitch. Is there any type rack that will work without having to install a hitch? Thanks very much,

For the heavier e-bikes like your Rad Power that weighs 60 lbs there really is only hitch mounted options for bike racks like the very easy to use Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202. Trailer hitches attach to the frame of the vehicle which provides a very sturdy point for the rack to attach to which is needed for the much heavier e-bikes. If you were to try and carry an e-bike on a trunk rack you'd most likely dent the rear door.
But hitch options give you a much easier install, stronger attachment point like mentioned, and also there's no contact with any painted surfaces.
For your 2017 Toyota Highlander the etrailer hitch part # e98844 is a really great option and has plenty of capacity.
The EasyFold XT rack I mentioned is the easiest to load/unload because it comes with a ramp system that pulls out that allows you to roll the bikes up into the rack. Check out the review video I attached for more info on this.
