Does etrailer Hitch for 2019 Honda Odyssey Have Capacity for Motorcycle Carrier
Question:
Hello, I have a 2019 Honda Odyssey, and I am trying to find a hitch to mount a motorcycle carrier on. -my motorcycle is a small one and is listed as weighing in at 278lbs The hitch receiver I am looking at is the etrailer 2" trailer hitch # e98855 I see the receiver is rated for a TW of 575lbs. Would I have any issues using this to carry a motorcycle? My only concern is about the inertial forces travelling over long distances that will be applied to the hitch receiver?

When the tongue weight capacity of a hitch is determined the manufacturer factors in the typical ride quality issues like you mentioned. So etrailer rated their hitch # e98855 as having a dynamic tongue weight capacity of 525 lbs. This means that the dips and bumps you'd travel over that would put additional strain on the hitch have been considered and factored in. So long story short the hitch has a 525 lb capacity even when going over bumps and dips and would work great for carrying a 278 lb motorcycle with a carrier like the # e98873.
Something else you might consider is the Timbren rear suspension enhancement kit part # T26FR which will give the rear suspension more support and prevent sagging when carrying the motorcycle.
