How To Install a Trailer Brake Controller On a 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
Hello, I am in need of a break controller for my 2020 Subaru Outback. I am already running a 4 to 7 pin connector to run the lights. I need to know what is needed to be connected on the 7 pin to the brake line and what’s needed for power on the controller. Currently I like the Curt Wireless controller option just need to figure out how to connect the rest of the wires for my 7 pin connector is it works!

In order to install a brake controller on a 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon you'll need to start with a four way trailer connector, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118467 which is plug-in-play. This can then be adapted to a seven way using the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L. This will pair perfectly with the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180.
In regards to the installation, regardless if you already have a four way and adapter, the only wires you need to run for the brake controller would be the ground wire (usually white) and the 12 volt power (usually black). The brake output (usually blue) and reverse (usually yellow) won't need hooked up.
