RV Trailer Hitch Receiver for 68-1/2 Inch I-Beam Frame

Question:

1 The Curt 13704 specs say 22-66 inch wide yet I found several question answers that say 68.5 inch is OK? Why do they list 22-66? My I-beams are 68.5 inches on center so if I use the 2 inner flanges it would be less then 68.5 2 The I-beam flanges are 1 inch wide on each side of the i-beam. The attachment bolts as 5/8 inch which would only leave 3/16 inch on each side of attachment hole. Would that be structurally sound?

We do have an adjustable-width RV trailer hitch receiver that will work for your I-beams spaced 68-1/2 inches apart, though the 13704 you mentioned is only for frames up to 66 inches apart. In the past it was for slightly wider frames but the manufacturer updated the dimensions.

So because your I-beams are 68-1/2 inches apart, the correct hitch for your trailer is the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703.

This uses brackets that and 1/2 inch bolts to attach to your I-beam, as you can see in the cut outs I added, and that will absolutely be structurally sound; or if you choose you can also have the hitch welded on.

I have added links below to both the instructions and a video install for you to check out as well if you'd like of the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703.
