Brake Controller And Wiring For A 2016 Ford F-150 With A Factory Four Pole Wiring Harness
Question:
I have a 2016 f150 that came with just the 4 pin trailer plug and no brake controller. I watched the video on how to install the 7 pin t harness. It looks simple enough but I am still confused if any more wiring will be involved after I add the factory brake controller in the cab.

To add a brake controller to your 2016 Ford F-150 with the factory 4 pole, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector Item # C56413. It is a simple plug in wiring harness. I also recommend adding a No-Drill Mount Bracket, Long Item # 18136 and a Hopkins Universal Mounting Bracket for 7-Way and 6-Way Trailer Connectors Item # HM48625 to give your 7 pole a more permanent mounting location. These are no drill brackets. The long bracket attaches to your hitch with a hose clamp and the 7 pole bracket bolts directly to the long bracket.
As far as a brake controller I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller Item # RED24FR and the Redarc Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers Item # 331-TPH-007. Since you have a factory four pole and a factory plug behind your dash then it does not require any additional wiring.
